The Invisible Bike Helmet
I am never telling you everything
Welcome to my blog. I like pretty things and pretty people and cute animals and good television. I escape from my life here. This blog will also include posts referring to awkward moments that plague my life daily, fanfiction recommendations, and quotes from family and friends about my ensuing obsessions. I like to keep it real and tell it like it is.
The Invisible Bike Helmet
This shit is hard.
every thing about this is 100% accurate
So my goal for the second semester is to start a running club at the school I work for and share with kids the power of running. Ideally I’d like to run 2 times a week and set goals with the kids and then put on a 5k fundraiser near the end of the year. If anyone has ever done something like this or participated in something like this, please share your ideas. I’d absolutely love to hear them!
I completed the 90 day program at the end of July and have decided to do it again, this time with heavier weights and more focus on completing advanced moves.
I’d love for you to join me. Starting today, we’d complete the program around the end of November. I’m also starting my half marathon training for my Las Vegas half on November 17th.
I’m planning to do daily updates and have also made the commitment to track my food on myfitnesspal (meganne1232).
I’m challenging my followers on this blog too!
Army Sergeant Jennifer Morris, Runner’s World Challenger (via krakwife) —
is it me or should you automatically have a six pack after running 8 miles
this half marathon training really makes you think twice about whether or not you actually like running or if you just tricked yourself into liking it
running is so weird
before I go i’m always like yes I love running this is going to be fantastic
and then in the first mile i’m like what the fuck was i thinking did someone drug me and plant those thoughts into my head
and then by the third mile i’m like okay this isn’t so bad i got this
and then when i’m nearing the end i’m like what the hell is this shit
and then ten minutes after i’m done i’m like that was fantastic running is so great
and the cycle starts all over again, it’s like it gives you amnesia
i’m off for my long run today
I read this every single day. It reminds me when I’m frustrated or lacking motivation or generally hating the world or wanting to lock myself up in my room and not leave for days to think about the why. It got me through undergrad and grad school and bad jobs and crappy internships and other things in life that in the moment seem just so terrible you couldn’t imagine yourself doing it for another minute.
Most recently, and thanks from a reminder from Randy Sprick (educational consultant) I’ve been applying it to my job. Because kids have a hard time doing something when they’re not sure why they’re doing it. How many times have you said “how is this ever going to be relevant to the real world? why do I need to know how many mph person A is traveling if they want to meet person B traveling at 79 mph but they stop 27 times to go to the bathroom and they need this many minuts to do it?” We’ve all been there, so I’ve been working on creating lessons and consulting with teachers about how we can give our kids a “why” that is relevant an meaningful.
I’ve also heard this phrase used by Jillian Michaels (whom I consider to be my personal trainer) when it comes to getting fit and leading a healthy lifestyle. She tells you to figure out the why. Why are you doing this? If you have a why you can tolerate any how. No matter how gruesome and grueling that how might be.
Starting then would have us ending mid July (right when I do my half)
I have a hard time spending 100 dollars on something unless I know I will like it. So if I do two weeks of it and enjoy it I will likely buy the DVDs.
Let me know if you’d be interested. Would you do my challenge?
Extending this challenge to all of you here too:) You know how I like to motivate!
do you have any advice for someone to get into running, mainly getting past the embarrassment factor of running outside
Yes I do actually!
