Nice quick four mile run tonight…it felt really good…which is exactly what I’m wanting to feel the week before my next half!
Heading out to Philly on Friday! I am so so so excited!!! I’ve never been there and I’m just looking forward to eating and exploring in one of the most historical places in the US! I’m planning on doing “Terror Behind the Walls” at Eastern State Penitentiary on Saturday and I don’t even know what I was thinking because it looks terrifying…I’ve been watching food shows like crazy about Philly…it just looks like such a fun place to eat..and you all know I love to eat.
I’ll be running the 5k on Saturday and the half on Sunday! I CAN’T WAIT
13.1 Miles… It ain’t half of anything!!!
I remember running my first half and thinking, “Oh, I’m only doing the half.” Excuse me? I’m ONLY doing the half? NO. No, no, no, no, no. I’m running 13.1 miles. THIRTEEN POINT ONE MILES.
I’ve trained for 3 months, giving up most of my Saturday morning sleep in time to get up and run. I’ve forgone the Cheetos for Cheerios. I’ve swapped the brewskis for water. I’ve chafed. I’ve been sore. I’ve lost toenails, had blisters, pulled muscles. Basically, I’ve worked hard to get to the point where I can run more miles in one morning than most people will drive the entire weekend. So this is a big reminder to me and to all half-marathoners not to cheapen the distance.
It’s COOL to be a half marathoner. No, it’s not the big dog, but that doesn’t make you any less of a runner. Be proud of your accomplishments! You’re able to run 13.1 miles! And that is pretty frickin’ sweet.

This shit is hard.
every thing about this is 100% accurate
So my goal for the second semester is to start a running club at the school I work for and share with kids the power of running. Ideally I’d like to run 2 times a week and set goals with the kids and then put on a 5k fundraiser near the end of the year. If anyone has ever done something like this or participated in something like this, please share your ideas. I’d absolutely love to hear them!
